CONSTRUCTION

Downer Contracting has bid and been successful on many contracts within the Bow Valley and surrounding area.

Construction projects range from flood mitigation, subdivision development, water and sewer projects, bridges, residential excavations, rock retaining walls, clearing & logging reclamation. These projects have played a huge part in the success of Downer Contracting over the years. Downer has also worked in partnerships with developers in condominium projects and subdivision developments from clearing and site preparation to completion. Downer will continue to work closely with clients in environmentally sensitive areas while keeping cost savings in mind as well as providing a safe work environment.

LAFARGE CANADA

EXSHAW PLANT

In December 2006 Downer Contracting entered into a contract with Lafarge Canada Exshaw Plant to provide services for the hauling of raw materials to the plant located in Exshaw, Alberta for the manufacturing of cement.

Downer Contracting is also responsible to haul red shale and iron millscale which is brought into the plant by rail, C.K.D. (cement kiln dust) which is hauled to a landfill designated for dust products on Lafarge property.

Downer is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for clinker hauling, snow removal as well as any other jobs which may arise at the plant or in the Quarry.

We also have an equipment rental agreement with Lafarge in the event that one of their major pieces of equipment is down for repairs. At Downer Contracting a strictly enforced safety program is adhered to as well as pride in workmanship, family values and customer satisfaction.

GRAYMONT LIMESTONE QUARRY

In November 2007 Downer Contracting entered into a contract with Graymont to load, haul & stockpile waste rock which is blasted and removed as well as the stripping of overburden. The high grade limestone rock is then loaded and hauled to the plant which is located in Exshaw, Alberta.

Downer’s other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, Quarry road maintenance as well as other work within the Quarry and at the plant site.
